Default weird dream or out of body experience?

Probably the weirdest dream I had was many years ago when I was single and lived at home with my mother. I had worked half a day on a Saturday. I often wondered if the fact that they were cleaning the office floors with some really strong chemical affected my brain that day because when I went home I decided to take a nap and I had this weird dream experience.
I felt like I was totally awake in my mind but my body was laying on the bed and wouldn't move. I kept struggling to sit up and felt totally paralyzed. I finally managed to sit up (I guess this was part of the dream and I actually wasn't) and then suddenly I would be laying on the bed again unable to move. This went on for a while and it was horrible. Finally I dreamed I was able to get up and leave the room and I went and stood in front of my mother who was sitting in the living room. I said, "Mother, please, please wake me up."
Then I woke up for real in bed. I got up and went in the living room and there was my mother sitting in that chair. I told her about my dream and she said that she had been having the strangest urge to wake me but then she would tell herself that's silly, she needs her sleep.

I've always had very strange, vivid dreams. I've had the "dream within a dream" ones where I "wake up" from a dream beside a man (deceased) I've been having recurring dreams about for years and I begin to tell him about the dream I just had. (When I wake up beside him, it never occurs to me that he is dead. I'm just in the life that I keep having recurring dreams about.) I'll also dream I've run errands thinking I'm awake. These dreams are so real, that I'll actually think I ran the errand and will be surprised to find out I hadn't. I don't immediately remember these upon waking, I'll just "remember" running an errand the previous day. Sometimes, the only way to figure out whether or not I ran the errand (besides finding I'm out of coffee) is to remember who I was with. If the person is deceased or unavailable, then obviously it was a dream.

I've also had the sleep paralysis dreams where I can't move, but then I leave my body and see things that are occurring in other rooms. I'll go into dreams after experiencing sleep paralysis thinking I broke the paralysis and woke up. Recently, I kept trying all these tactics to prove I was still asleep, but became convinced I was awake. I asked my son to pinch me and it hurt, watched time go by on a clock, and quizzed everyone I ran into to see if what they said made sense. I even got a massage from the dead guy that felt incredibly real, but I knew he was dead and told him that he couldn't possibly be giving me a massage. He then pushed down so hard, air was forced out of my lungs. Then he asked me if that felt real enough.

The other day, I dreamt about a nun in vivid detail. I had never seen her before and she was wearing a sweater that I recalled in detail. I remembered the dream when I woke up and wrote about it in my dream journal. I thought I knew why I had this dream, as I'd seen a different nun the day before and had received an email that had to do with the pattern on the sweater of the nun I dreamt about. A few hours later, I saw this same nun from my dream, in the exact same sweater, walking in front of me. The sweater was exactly the same, right down to the fabric.

My family's favorite words out of me (I'm sure!) are, "I had the strangest dream..."

I dont tend to dream and remember them very often, but i had one from my childhood that was so vivid and real that i can still remember it now! For some reason i was showing my elder brother around our family home (as if it was a new house) and when we reached the top of the stairs it felt as though my legs were swept out from underneath me. I grabbed the bannister and all i could feel was the strong pulling force, yanking me backwards towards the tiny window at the top of the stairs. Eventually i lost my grip and i was dragged backwards, feet first through this little tiny window. My brother was watching laughing, and as i was swept away up into the sky all i could hear was his laughter...!
I woke up then sweating and the first thing i did was run to the top of the stairs and check the bannister for scratch marks where i had gripped so tightly, and then i checked window to see if it was one that opened - it wasnt!
Phew, it wasnt real!!

I once had a dream that i was walking home from my primary school (this dream happened when i was in primary school but i can remember it so vividly as it was so strange) and as i looked to either side of me skyscrapers came up from the grassland. i continued walking to try and get home and on the way i met my great aunt who madly was a spinning piece of paper, and i had to give her a kiss goodbye by poking this spinning, swirly shaped paper at the right point. After much frustration i did this, and continued to walk home. Now i was on a quay and there were hundreds of people there, and i ran around stealing all their chips. I was now only a few metres from home when my best friend at the time and his family appeared, and they helped me back to my house. Then i woke up, I remembered this dream really well AS IT WAS SO WEIRD.

Here's a dream I've never forgotten even though I had it years ago. I dreamed I was at a local science museum with some relatives standing in a long line to see a new display. My relatives were ahead of me and already looking at it. There were these big wooden boxes with lids they lifted and I could see a little that there was like a microcosm of the universe inside with these planet and galaxies swirling around - really pretty. Anyway it was supposed to represent some new discovery or something. So I turn around and John Lennon is standing behind me. So of course, I had to start talking to him. I started talking away about how this display was supposed to explain all the secrets of the universe that had just been discovered. I had read all about it or something. Suddenly I got all embarrased and shy that I was bothering this famous person with my chattering and I said I'm sorry, I guess you probably already know all this since you are dead. LOL So then he answered me, No, that's ok, there is a barrier between us but sometimes we cross it to learn from each other.
I have this dream written down somewhere because when I woke up I thought it was so cool. I had always looked at spiritual knowledge from the perspective of the dead knowing everything and us trying to find out from dead people what it's all about. This dream made me think about the possibility that dead people are watching us and learning from us. Is that possible? I know I believe that you don't stop learning once you are dead. There are probably levels of awareness that you advance to.
I don't know if I had read something like that idea and stored it in my subconscious or what. I don't know why I would dream something like that but obviously I am interested in spiritual stuff and think about it a lot. I think my mind chose John Lennon as a dream symbol for someone who was spiritual and someone who I had always looked to for inspiration when I was a growing up.

It made me hard to tell if I am awake or is it still a dream. most of the time the room would dim.

After a long time I then learn to try to find a clock to tell what time it is so that way I can tell if I am dreaming or awake. if the clock didnt change time then i would know i am dreaming, now the dream would be only be a 1 time dream with a dream. I know what you mean. My most psychic dreams do have different layers to them. They all seem "real" in their own way. Most of the time I feel a certain responsibility to see the thing through. If I do become lucid in other types of dreams I check how my body feels. I can sense that I'm actually curled up under the duvet, warm and safe in the dark but what I'm seeing and experiencing (including cold breezes on my face) are part of the "dream". I also have quite ordinary wish-fulfilment dreams, others where I'm obviously working through fears and worries. Some are archetypal like that and on waking I put them down to my subconscious exercising itself. I learned as a child that if I was having a nightmare, all I had to do was go to sleep in the dream to wake up in the real world. Some people say that if they want to check whether they're awake or not, the try to read something. It's usually impossible apparently. I'm going to try that next time. Don't you find that if our thoughts are caught up in 3D worries like paying the bills, work, the laundry - our connection is lost albeit temporarily?

I would have to agree with that, .... I have mentioned to people on this forum the huge difficulty I have reading in an LD or Obe, ...and if I am not careful and focused when trying it, it usually results in me waking up. Sometimes I can feel I am losing the altered state and going to wake up, but if I stop reading and focus I can sometimes hold myself in it.

Default weirdest dream

I dreamt that I was walking through the woods with my sister and my son. It was dark out and I was holding their hands. We came to a big tree, it was really wide. There was what looked like a black glass in the front where we were standing. I made my arms move in a circular motion. Inside the glass there was a different world. It was a brighter and much more colorful world. We then walked into the tree and joined all the people we didn't know.

Craig,
I've been uncertain of what reality really is for years. What if our entire life has just been one, vivid dream? That being said, I just kinda go with the flow for now. LOL! I've had too many weird, terrifying, horrific, and twisted dreams to mention. The ones that stick with me the longest are what I refer to as my "end of the world" dreams. I actually dreamt the moon blew up! I was standing with a group of people in someone's front yard. We were all staring at the moon--and it exploded. I screamed for everyone to hold onto something. There was this tremendous wave that rocked the planet. Just like that, the moon was gone. I've also had disaster dreams about horrific tidal waves engulfing an entire building. (I later used this scenario in one of my screenplays. At least I'm never at a loss for material) Another dream involved lava coming out of the ground and running down the main road. Recently, there was one about some sort of nuclear attack--or something. Just about everyone was dead. Every dream afterwards that night involved survival in the aftermath. I was trying to help others in each and every dream and, at least once each dream, I would break down and cry over the disaster then continue helping others. I woke up completely exhausted!

Every dream I have is weird. Just last night I dreamt that I went out in the street in a housecoat looking for some unknown object. I didn't know exactly what the object was but I knew I had to find it. Even when it started raining (and my candle mysteriously stayed lit), I still kept wandering the streets, determined to find whatever it was I was looking for, but not in any particular hurry.
Eventually I ended up heading for a bridge which is at the bottom of my street to take shelter under it. When i got near enough I could see a massive blue double decker bus underneath it with no wheels. As I got closer and examined it I could see that it was made of rubber (like a bouncy castle except in the shape of a bus - complete with a driver's booth which had a rubber door that didn't close, rubber stairs, rubber seats and rectangular spaces for windows). I stepped onto it and noticed that there was a blow up driver in the booth (for those of you who have seen the film Airplane, it looked quite like the autopilot in that film). It signalled with its hand for me to pay, So I felt around in my housecoat pocket and got 2 rubber coins and placed them in the ticket machine. He waved at me so I went up to the back of the bus and sat next to a girl who I later noticed was a friend of mine who died when we were both 7 (in the dream she was the same age as me, though). We smiled at eachother but no one spoke and then the driver took a pin and burst the rubber beside the wheel, the same way a driver would insert a key into their car's ignition. This caused the bus to start flying like a balloon does when blown up and let go. Soon we were flying over the city of Glasgow (where I live) and it was daytime again. We admired the sights until the bus deflated to the point where it could no longer fly. It then landed back under the bridge where it had started, and it was night again. I smiled at my friend and got off the bus, noticing that the driver had also deflated, and went back home and into bed. As soon as I dropped into bed in my dream I woke up in real life.

Another weird dream that I had a few weeks ago (which was actually more terrifying) was a very brief one where I woke up (in my dream) and saw a small boy sitting at my computer. I am an only child, so I was a bit wary of him and wondered who he was. I immediately recognised him though, as if I knew him from somewhere, and he gave me a feeling of absolute hopelessness and despair, which was strange because he was doing nothing more than sitting on the chair, not even looking at me, and he appeared to be relatively happy. I approached him and felt as though I didn't want to speak to him, so instead I shouted into the kitchen to my mum and asked her who he was. I expected her reply, which was "your brother". I dropped to my knees and screamed, grabbing onto his ankles, but he walked past me and out of the room, smiling. Even though nothing sinister happened in that dream, it really scared me and I never went near my computer chair for almost a month. I even feel scared now writing about it now.

If any of you have any ideas of the meanings of either of them, especially the second one, I would much appreciate it.

P.S. I'm new here, so hi
