You kind of raise a good point there Annie, which begs another question. There seems little doubt that various governments throughout the world have taken extensive, and very expensive measures to hush the issue of 'alien visitors' up, with little success - when will they realise that the more 'secret' they try and make things, the more the public wish to know about it? The Kennedy assaination should have taught the US govt. and its various 'security' agemcies the folly of this!

The question is, WHY have they done this? In view of the time this began to happen (i.e. shortly after WW2), I can understand the reason well - to stop the (then highly paranoid) population panicking - witness what occured when Orson Welles tried to dramatise 'The War of the Worlds' on radio at that time, blind panic and many near fatal accidents. It was a good idea to keep quiet about it then, and unfortunately this business was woefully mismanaged, which is why it continues to this day!

I think I can explain.... following WW2 and the horrifying new 'secret weapons' which appeared during and shortly after it, people worldwide were nervous (as they had every right to be!), and when the govts of the 'free West' and the Soviet Union fell out, there was a very real prospect of an incredibly destructive third world war occuring at any moment. Both sides had invaded Gerrmany, and both (secretly) looted huge amounts of material concerning weapon development - plans, prototypes, expert designers etc. etc., which were not shared but hept very secret. The 'Space Race' was based on Nazi rearch largely, Hitler was obsessed with military developments snd plans were on the drawing board for German manned space missions, and the first ICBM to be aimed at the USA, which was frighteningly close to becoming a reality.

The US government were therefore just as paranoid as the US people, and when incursions by uncatchable, impossibly fast and highly mysterious aircraft took place in American airspace, they obviously kept as quiet as they could, suspecting the Russians might be responsible. In the USSR the same things were happening, and the same suspicions that the USA had developed Nazi 'goodies' to a frighteningly effective degree caused similar secrecy there. Incidentally, this obsession with Nazi technology continues to this day as well, look round the WWW if you doubt me...

The upshot of this was a severe clampdown on anything to do with UFO sightings, contacts and incidents involving 'alien craft', which was supervised haphazardly by a number of US military, covert civilian agencies, and highly secret commitees and government organisations. They were undoubtedly heavy handed, often ignorant of each other's very existence, and in their usual, ham-fisted manner did some highly illegal and morally disgraceful things to shut people up, hide facts and maintain secrecy (including murder, abduction, the use of drugs and torture, false imptisonment under mental health restrictions and financial fraud.... to name but a few!)

The 'cover up' which continues to this day is largely the result of this illegal activity, which it is vital to conceal in a world where distrus of, and disgust with governments is (justifiably IMHO) so rife. Only in the past few yrats have enough old-timers died that the CIA can admit it tried to kill Castro... this is far, far more serious! Here in the UK, the 'secret services' have always acted with impunity, outside the law and with paranoid secrecy - for good reasons. The truth would so appall the public, there would be calls for a shake up and reorganisation the 'MI' sections have been dreading for years, and have avoided at all costs - including bugging the government itself on occasion. Therefore the reprihensible and illicit activities of the past can never allow any admission that there were or are any contacts with extra-terrestrials, or any basis for UFO's.

This is nowadays an embarrassment for both governments (elected members of which are still not informed about the true facts, even at the highrst level). Even if they would dearly like to 'come clean' about the subject, they can't do so, for fear of exposing the dishonesrt of their predecessors, compromising and offending their security services, opening the floodgates to criminal charges and legal action being taken against very important and powerful paople, but - worst of all - revealing the lack of control they have over said security agencies and their complete lack of respect for the law.

So it goes on... a continuing drip-feed of disinformation, ridicule and denial, which has been going on for half a century or more. One recent example (even clumsier than usaual) was that pathetic, faked 'alien autopsy'.... rather crude, the fakery was so obvious it backfired completely. Instead of tidiculing mysterious 'hoaxers and casting doubt on all those who come up with similar (possibly real) footage in future, it showed a woeful lack of respect for the intelligence of the genetal public.... which they would do well to realise.

Absolutely Warwick!! We mirror one another in thought in regard to this subject! I had to think even further back in history when the first glimpses of cover up evidence was started which goes much further back then our scroll records indicate, However, because of anthropologists and their extensive research, we have been able to unleash some of the mysteries about alien visitation and the intriguing artifacts they have left permeated in peoples minds forever within human existence.

If you will think back to school days and the study of the Roman empire ( which I feel was the kick off to some of the greatest cover up stories ever known to man-kind). The lust for control by the Roman Empire set the footings for masking intelligence upon common people ( villagers ) so therefore corruption against the Roman government could not find it's way to the top.

The common villagers spoke amongst themselves, passing down stories from one generation to another, revealing stories of the Temples in Egypt, revealing truths of hieroglyphics, unfortunately tho, they were threatened to keep their mouths shut, as in a lot of the information left behind had mindful and intellectual ways to advance our species. Greed and the hunger for control changed the way human beings interacted with one another to the point that 'mistrust' was no longer just a factor from the Roman Empire, it was now wide spread amongst the common villagers in large quantities.

I am sure there are other cases like this even prior to the Roman Empire.. this is the only one I can think of from the top of my head without researching..lol.

Throughout History there have been thousands of "cover-ups" to the point i think we as humans have changed our cellular structure to accept this way of life in all things. ( thank goodness for the few and far in between that do not hold this philosophy to be their 'be all end all' intend in life).

Well said Annie! The b****Y Romans have indeed much to answer for, and are to a large extent responsible for a great deal of the World's suffering, both during and since their batberous, corrupt and despotic 'evil empire' began to go sour. Notice who Mtssolini then Hitler harked back to and worshipped, adopting 'SPQR' banners, batons and symbols of the much revered 'First Reich! Has Hitler had better legs and a more sturdy physique, i daresay the SS would have ended up wearing togas instead of their black, imitation 'Praetorian Guard' outfits...

The Romans were proto-Nazis in many ways, from thrie elitist detestation and suppression of other peoples and cultures, to their crafty use of propaganda, terror and extortion - on an international scale. Ruthless, cruel, uncompromising and paranoid, their firm belief in 'Might Is Right' cannot be denied, and their hypocritical damnation of any who questioned The Law (their 'Law', altered as and whenever necessary to suit their greedy ambitions and purposes) has unfortunately outlasted the decline and fall of their rotten, selfish, misogenystic society.

I too remember 'history' feom school - the Romans gave us baths, and were admired as they were short haired and clean shaven, men who built wonderful buildings that lasted... just look at Rome! Buildings like the Collisseum (sp?) in fact, built by slaves, where countless thousands were killed to entertain Roman mobs... 'civilisation' this was called for some reason. They brought 'peace' to the barberous (trousered) warrior tribes who polluted Europe, by subjecting them to the rule of Law and providing proper administration.... though the fact that most of the 'Roman' armies who did the conquering and pillaging were trousered mercenaries was left out for some reason?

The Romans were *Disciplined*, which (at my ghastly CofE junior school) made any atrocity forgiveable - the Normans were similarly favoured by the soul-less, ignorant Victorian Rump teachers we suffered under. The Saxons with their long hair and moustaches were viewed with disdain, and as for the Danes and Vikings... the horror, the horror! So were those who went to Woodstock I'm afraid....

Fortunately, I saw through the hypocrisy, lies and nonsense from an early age, and suffered little from the Roman hangover, allowed to give up Latin at 14. The persistence of this nonsensical, long dead language is amazing - one of the last 'elitist' pieces of garbage the Romans left - via the Church. The Church (I am glad to say) has been forced to abandon 'Roman' methods of enforcement (i.e. intimidation by torture, imprisonment and execution by burning and boiling) recently, and been dragged kicking and screaming into the 19th century.

The legacy of Rome (where even the most powerful ended up being murdered by their own relatives more often than not) is a terrible one, and unfortunately their evil empire lasted just long enough to allow their biggest crime of all to happen - the perversion, distortion and corruption of Christianity. The kindly advice and thoughtful teachings of a gentle healer from a distant Roman procince were shamefully hi-jacked to use as the basis of a new religion, which the psychpatic, muderous 'saint' Constantine had arranged for him, by greedy, ambitious politicians in tne third century - they nearly chose John the Baptist, but the haed-on-a-plate bit wasn't as umpressive as a good 'ole Roman crucifixion (if it hadn't, maybe millions of people would be wearing little silver plates round their necks, and chuches would be adorned with ornate plates... who knows?)

Some interesting facts about Rome as an 'aside' - for light relief?

The Romans have always loved to watch a good execution 'for fun', and they routinely warmed up the crowds with a 'chop off' before gladuatorial events. Behesding, strangulation, garotting and (of course) crusifixion were the preffered methods before Rome 'went Xtian' however. Burning alive only came in after 325AD as popuilar entertainment... a step forward?

More people were killed in gladiatorial events AFTER Constantine (the so called 'great') than were killed in the good 'ole pagan days before his despotic rule.

Queen Boudicca's irritation with the Roman's was NOT caused by PMS, and the heavy handed actions of her troops were the result of Roman barbarity, not British - what mother would not rightly lose her temper if so treated? (Too awful to mention here -look it up if you wish to know why she fell out with 'civilised' Rome!)

The Romans were only any good at 'administetion' - there are no notable Roman inventors, philosiphers, visionaries, scientists, explorers or geniuses. Everything they made, did, ised or developed was pinched from other civilisations - like a horde of hungry locusts, they thought only of Roman Glory - and feathering their own nests at any price. Even Mrs Thatcher pales into insignifigance....

If this sounds like a diatribe against Christianity and the Romans, it isn't meant to be - they dug their own grave(s) long ago, it's just that the dust doesn't seem to have settled yet.... ask Terry Jones?

Cheers
Warwick

If i found out the life was just "somewhere" far away i'd just maybe try to join an expedition to set up trade or whatever, also i'd scope their defence capabilities, should they be hostile and know of us then we must strike first with massive nukes. sound cold but it really is the only way when u think of it logicaly, but if they nice they hooray let's be friends... start asking for a bit too much, cut them off.

if they landed here i'd ask what they wanted, if if it was clear they wanted peace then i'd tell them to run cos the world ain't ready. if hostile, call the authorities first but if and where i can i'd fight guerrilla warfare style, slit some alien throat and fire arrows from the bushes, gone before they find where the arrow came from. this is our planet!

alian immigrants i say if the tech ain't good and they ain't obidient, then send them packing, cos you let some in then they all starting asking for a piece of the blue green pie

but hey only life we've found so far is bacteria (i think) and i doubt theres more out there or that it is in range of anywhere we will ever go.
