This maybe slightly long but I'll try and get to the point. I just needed some advice on the following.
After my 15th birthday I started to receive visitors after hours.

I would go to sleep and then be awoken to someone standing over me in the middle of the night - I am unable to speak and a lot of the time unable to move, and can not see these people as it is too dark.

First incident was a man who just stood there I am aware this is not a dream as my room is exactly the same and I even heard a family member go downstairs to the kitchen, who I tried to scream out to but couldn't.

A couple of nights after, this happened again there was no one in my room but I have floorboards and I awoke to the sound of many people walking up and down it.

I had to then sleep at my sister?s house as I was so afraid to return to my room and unfortunately I wasn't experiencing this sense of calm or a lovely white light it was sheer terror of being harmed.

When I returned back I had my mum sleep with me - (which at 15 is slightly embarrassing) even then in the middle of the night I awoke to what seemed to be a girl under the age of 10 kneeling by my legs on the bed stroking my hands (again I couldn't speak to notify my mum and it was too dark to see this girl).

Another time I was lying in bed alone and even resulted to wearing a cross around my neck and awoke to someone with their arm around me gentle I was too terrified to turn around or even move.

This was the last experience for a number of years until I was 20 I was living away from home and awoke in the early hours of the morning to find a lady in her mid 20's looking on top of my wardrobe for something and this time I could actually see her - which was one of my greatest fears. If I actually saw them they would look disfigured it terrified the hell out of me but she looked fine and was too busy looking for whatever she was to even notice me (cheeky mare- as I was trying to sleep).

I had to seek advise and went to the college of psychic studies who advised me to "close down" as I was too open and since then I have had nothing- but what the heck was all that about?

At 27 I feel like I'm at an age/place to handle this now....

Any advice would be great and thanks for being a trooper if you got to the end!

Please read up on sleep paralysis. If you can't speak or move this is the most likely explanation.

What you can do is to go to city hall or where they have the record of the house and check who lived there before and find out how they died.

I now exactly what your going through!!! I had the same experience in my life. You know you could have a gift that you have no control over!? When I was 13 the big black shadow started to visit my room at night, at first, I thought I was having nightmares... But no! it became physical! I couldn't sleep in my own room! I could really hear deep breathing!! It sat on my bed, walked around my bed, he became 4. It would play with my blankets, pulling them away, and I know because I was awake!!! It came to a point when I placed my bed in the middle of my room because something was hitting my walls waiking everybody in the house!!!
My mother blesses my room, my bed, my pillow, gave my a crucifix and I had to sleep with a ''chapelet'' (sorry I'm french)
That made my nights confortable and I could sleep... finally.
Since then, before I go to sleep, I ask if someone wants to visit, to come in my dreams or when I'm awake. It works. Try the holy water, sounds crazy maybe, but it works! You need to know why they come and visit you! Take control, you need to know for you, your health!! trust me on this one.

I don't know much on the subject of ghosts aside from my own personal experiences when i was younger but i do know some things that might help you out.

In many cultures sleep paralysis is mentioned as a right of passage or a psycic phenomena that one should cultivate. Many of these episodes do include ghostly visits. I believe that one culture -forgive me i cant remember which one- refers to it as Pee Um or something of that nature.

Anyway most of these cultures suggest that you relax and breathe. Then you may try and communicate with these visitors calmly. Some say you will be able to do so in your mind by projecting your thoughts gently, others say once you calm down and try not to focus on how you can't move you should be able regain control of your body. They also however warn that one should never -and i now know this from my own experiences- and i mean absolutley never tell a spirit that you will help them move one. Spirits are not always as kindly as one thinks and even if they are you promise may attract negative ones.

Also another thing you might find useful involves astral projection. It is said that once one gets to the right stage of astral projection they can enter the "spirit world". There they may be able to contact dead loved ones or people they have known in past lives or have had karmic ties to. I don't think this is exactly whats happened to you because supposedly if astral projecting one could return to their body instantly when desired and you dont appear to ever have left your body. But it's something to think on.

Hi, Have you ever dabbled with a ouija board? by doing so you invite spirit in to your life. If not then you may be attracting spirit naturally, due to being clairvoyant. If you are seeing spirit you are working from the third eye chakra which is one of the higher chakras which works on the Indigo/violet vibrational ray. Spirit are energy and are of a higher vibration than us in our earthly bodies yet, by having your 3rd eye wide open your gonna be like a beacon of light to them! (like attract like) It's good that you have been shown how to close down your 3rd eye somewhat, so your not attracting them all the time. It's a beautiful gift and may I assure you that you have no need to be fearful or worried. lack of undestanding or knowledge is the only worrying thing. Finding out as much as you can or seeking a reputable clairvoyant in your area to talk to about this could help immensely. I would advise you learn as much as you can about Psychic protection, grounding and the gift of clairvoyance. Also, keep a dream journal and record your dreams - you'll probably notice a few things coming true when you look back at them. I had the same experience as you 2 years ago of being paralyzed and seeing spirit in the room. I had images and scenarios flash through my mind at that time too which later proved to be premonitions. This led me away from the scientific explanation and toward the spiritual truth! Since excepting and learning, rather than argueing with myself about what was happening, my spiritual gift has grown, I am a happier, stronger more positive person because of it. It really can be a gift which can give strength to you and others. Please try to seek out people who can help you and guide you with this. I feel there may be somebody at a local spiritualist church who can help!

hey max... so glad you posted.. this is something that has been happening to me for a long time. i always called them my black shadows... sometimes they scare me... sometimes i can feel them pushing on my shoulders at night, sometimes they are just there... once a couple of weeks after a knee operation, a whole bunch came at the same time... they touched my knee and all i could hear was whispering all around me.. sounds kind of strange i know, but later going to the doctor he praised me for doing all the physio i needed (of course i hadn't .. to depressed) and that my knee had healed faster than expected... i freaked out a little at first, but i went home and thanked "them" for their help.. didn't know what else to do. this doesn't happen all the time. sometimes i see them at the foot of the bed or in the door way..but it happens enough to cause me some concern.. i don't feel like the house has any bad vibrations, and i'm not uncomfortable to be here or to go to sleep...anyways, thanks to all i have a few new ideas about what this could be...

well ive read your guys's posts and i jsut want to say here.
that sleep paralyisis is a sleep disorder than can seeem quiet frightful as i have had these experiences.and also i would like to add from my years of experience and working with spirit.there are no evil spirit this is man made belief.
sopme peeps enjoy the spooky side to everything when in reality spirit are pure and of unconditional love and light,we are all created from god in a human body.
evil spirits ,trapped spirits,etc are all made up beliefs to make some distrubing sense to those things misunderstood.knowledge is the best way to find understanding and peace.
there are way to many stories and tv shows and movies that twist and alter the truth about spirit to scare you and mislead you which is unfortunate in my opinion.
and as for ouija boards they are jsut a board just like tarot cards are just cards.
they are mearly tools to help the psychic or medium focus to what they are doing,nothing more.
if it doesnt feel good its not spirit
it is your own mind.

sorry sy... i don't mean to disagree with you, but maybe you can answer this... if sprits are bright and filled with love why do they apprear like black shadows, why would you be afraid of some of them?
i have had other expriences and they don't frighten me at all...
