I know we can all have a laugh at a certain show where a certain medium fell for two planted names but sadly the problem goes a lot deeper.
Said show have been to locations (I know because I have been to most and discussed such with owners) and clearly set stuff up. One location (I obviously cannot name) filmed their 24 hr show in one sunny afternoon! They blacked out the windows and performed less that 1hr filming with a number of camers. Thus editing maybe 5 or 6 hours worth into whats needed for a show. The owner said he/she wasn't aware of any activity during filming but was surprised when the final cut made it look like it was a full on, all night scare fest! I have heard first hand similar - maybe not that bad - as above from no less that half a dozen locations. I know of 3 places where they are angry at how they conducted theirselves and are not welcome back! Next time they ask for a vote saying which locations do you want us to return to, they should say "Here is a small list of locations we are not yet banned from and which ones would you like us to go to and set up an entertaining afternoons filming at" I think the huge popularity of said show has actually ruined real ghost hunting because locations are using shows name to get more business and charging stupid amounts (which small decent groups cannot afford) and now the amatures are taking over! By this I mean, paranormal tours! I don't care which famous person runs it, squeezing 40 or 50 people at ?50 a head to observe some people (who frankly are not good at ghost hunting) perform vigils and not let you "actually take part" is ruining the industry. I would really like to see locations turn down "Paranormal Tours" once a month and book small teams every weekend at reasonable rates.

It seems to me that some of these paranormal programmes are 'spiced up' a bit to make it more entertaining for viewers. Producers/directors want to keep their audiences so maybe they 'arrange' for the investigators to fake certain things to make it more scary. Which is a shame, cos, as we all know, ghosts don't perform on request! If there's nothing there, there's nothing there but hey, we had a good time investigating anyway.

i think tv is not the right place to get accurate information in any subject. after all it`s all about rating, money and give the people what they want to see. so yes i think that if a fake ghost would raise the viewing rate they will have no shame to fake it
