ARE SOME TV GHOST PROGRAMMES FAKED?

It is alleged that some TV programmes have cheated when searching for ghosts. For example, it is believed that a certain medium repeated a deliberately planted 'red herring' put on a website by sceptics about one of the locations he was investigating. He proceeded to talk to his guide about the spirit, channeled the voice of the person and repeated the fake names and facts planted on the website. Do you think that some entertainment programmes give serious investigators a bad reputation?

I think the incident your referring to was a certain South African guy ;)

But yes I believe that mainstream paranormal programs, for example the one the "red herrings" were shown on are more for entertainment value than the paranormal investigations that they think we believe it to be. And that particular show has become more money driven by merchadising and telephone forums??

Its a shame.


And its not just this country, an american equivalent have done the same and has been proven to fake some positive results.


Perhaps its time these programs go back to roots and continue off where they ultimately started and be more factual than entertainment.

I feel I am losing the point of this discussion.

When were Paranormal tv programmes supposed to be entertaining? I know they are placed under this umbrella but surely investigating the unknown should be a very serious matter and not to be ridiculed.

Every time something fake is exposed, every one of us who has a genuine interest in the paranormal, or even work as mediums and have dedicated our lives to such service, are denigrated a little more bit.

In my opinion, every person who laughs at one of these shows is exposing me, and hundreds of others like me, to embarrassment and encouraging the tv programmers to continue these nonsensical shows.

It would be more honest if they were classified as fiction or even science fiction/fantasy as some of them have no bearing on the truth whatsoever.

In the last few years, I think ive only seen a couple of serious paranormal TV programmes.


Unfortunately mainstream TV has become a lucrative business over the last 10 years.

Big Brother, Get me out of here, Pop Idol, etc the list goes on.

And now unfortunately other paranormal "investigation" shows.


Its just that we are a small amount of people serious about this, while the rest are not and wish to be entertained on this subject and they are willing to pay for it.

unfortunately, commercial tv is there to make money for sponsors. if more people want to watch 'entertaining' paranormal shows than 'serious' paranormal shows, then the 'entertaining' ones will get shown. not saying it's a good thing...

i wonder when the first 'vote for your favourite medium' show will appear

yes i think alot of tv shows do give serious investigators a bad name.I would rather watch a real paranormal show.

Not sure what a real paranormal show is.

A tv one is always edited. If you are visiting a haunted site as part of an organised group, and paying for the privilege then suggestions are put to you as to where you will feel different energies or emotions which trigger off your imagination.

Sitting in a seance for spirit certainly isnt a show so not too sure what is

dont forget television is a form of entertainm,ent, hence the content of the so called para normal t.v shows, its all about entertaining an audience, and pulling in viewers. nothing to do with the paranormal

I personally feel that seeing for your own eyes is believing because some programmes are recorded and even the ones which go out live can still be edited with todays technology.
