The whole idea behind astrology (regardless of the school of thought) is that our energy is influenced by the stellar energies from the constellations. In physics this is called the "leansing of electromagnetic energy". In otherwords, our sun acts as a magnifying glass for the power of the stars behind it. This is especially true at the time of our birth when the body/mind is brought fully "on-line" for the first time.
Tropical astrology does NOT take into account what sign the sun is in on any given day.........sidereal astrology does I'm sorry if you don't agree but I can not accept a system in which the 360 degrees were arbitarily divided into 30 degree slices and does NOT take the procession of equinoxes into account at all. Tropical astrology doesn't even take into account the short time in december when the sun is in ophiticus and makes it the birth sign.......... The arbitrary division leads to cases such as this one. A person who is "virgo" but the sun was shining in "leo" on her birthday....... Even worse is your wanting to assign planitary signs into the 12 houses when there are 21 signs the planets pass through. Please study the system before writing back. I'm looking foward to a logical discussion on these issues. |

spoken like a virgo too.
Most virgo's do relate to their sign characteristics, but may not as they think it. for instance i deft keep a pretty messy home, i am a messy person, but my dvd collection will be in order, my desks will be an organised mess lol if that makes sense. im rarely on time, but im late at bout the same time everyday etc. I don't totally believe everything said about the various star signs, but i do believe each sign have traits that are common to them. |

Reason for that is the backpoles Chevere. What happens with the backpole is that the polar opposite sign has some influence on those born at a particular time. Reason for this basically comes down to electromagnetic induction. It is the other side of the field.
For this reason, I always treat the 12 signs in pairs. It's not a large influence unless your talking about the sign the vernal equinox is occuring in as well. Example would be the Leo-aqarius pairing. Because we are coming into the aquarian age, leos and aquarians may display traits of the opposite sign. It is true of the other 5 pairs as well but would be strongest upon the age's signs. Now for the reasoning behind backpoles. In the standard sign, the energy is being drawn from the astrological sign behind the sun and lensed upon the earth's surface. With backpoles, the same thing is essentially happening. The difference is the energy is getting drawn into the sun and hitting the earth before the sun. This makes the energy weaker than what is being concentrated from BEHIND the sun but it is hitting us none the less. |

No problem at all. I do find it frustrating when people who have NOT studied astrological theory and only memorized charts instead of LOOKING with their own telescope dismiss things off-hand. I think Albert Einstein said it best
, " Condemnation without investigation is the highest form of ignorance"........... I am working on more references for you. Check back by the sunday after this post and it should be up |

My sister is a Virgo and the stereotypes associated with the sign certainly DO NOT ring true for her. She is possibly one of the messiest, most inhygienic people I've ever known. She rarely showers and leaves so much food to rot in her room that we recently had to call in a pest control guy to get rid of the carpet beetles that had found a new home in there.
Disgusting!! |

as far as I know the Chinese system of 4 pillars is also time based like the western one( vernal equinox=0 degree Aries)
I'm a Virgo myself but I think it should be kept in mind that all of the changeable sign's are ... changeable so I had this doubt myself whether the sidereal sun sign was the "real" one but all of the persons i know born in fixed sign's definitely fit that pattern .. so its no wonder that people with ascendant and sun in changeable sign's will act in unpredictable ways . one thing you can definitely say about Virgo's is that their carrier is the Most important thing in their life and that Virgo ascendant who didn't established their career will be somewhat strange and if it is an acute situation then the personality will be afflicted . (mercury rules Virgo and Gemini - with Virgo ascendant those are the 1 and 10 house, the same pattern is true for Pisces only the planets are different with Pisces it being Jupiter) |

I was born on August 23, 1970. I grew up thinking I was a Virgo until around age 10 or so and I found out that my birthday would fall under the sign of LEO on different calendars of the zodiac. Prior to reading about the qualities of the Leo, I always felt in tune with those of the Virgin. I was a always analytical, critical and opinionated as a child. I was very observant, self-conscious, shy, picky and a worry-wart. Around age 12-15 I can say I recall starting to break out of my shell and somewhat express most of the qualities of my Leo side. As a teen, I craved attention, but then again, so do most teens. However, I started to see changes in the way I carried myself. I liked to wear flashy clothing, and even start to fuss about my hair a lot. My mane was my glory! I had to have my hair high-lighted and teased up high to the sky back in the 80's. My personality hardly seemed that of a Virgo, although I know that I possessed qualities of both signs, being born on a cusp.
Around age 30, not too long after my Saturn return, I can honestly say that I feel I have completely evolved into a Virgo . Is this possible? I don't even feel the slightest bit like a Leo anymore and I have often wondered why....or if this is even possible? It could be because I have grown up and reached adulthood. But I don't even feel the firey traits of the Leo any longer. In fact, I am more of a Virgo now than ever! My question is, was a born a Virgo with Leo traits.....or was I born a Leo w/Virgo traits?? lol I am 39 now and no longer live for attention. I don't have the leadership abilities I once did in my 20's. Instead, I spend my time thinking, analyzing, observing, perfecting, organizing, planning, worrying, cleaning, disinfecting (lol), redoing, and so forth! What has happened to me? Will the Leo ever come back out? Or have I locked up the feline for good? |

I can sssooo relate to this thread. I'm a Virgo and they make me sound so boring and dull! I'm only like that when I need my alone time just like anybody else, but when I'm fired up... I'm almost ALWAYS the life of the party. People have called me crazy, eccentric, overdramatic, cocky, LOUD, and a "dreamer."
