To be honest I don't like horror films at all, but a few years ago I saw a really scary film that was supposedly based on the true experience of a family with 3 or 4 daughters and the wifes parents when they moved into a new house with granny flat. The house was very haunted, and there was one particular scene where the father was assaulted by some kind of a demon. The film was american or possibly canadian, and I seem to remember it being called 'the haunting' or something similar. Does anyone out there know the film I'm talking about? or could point me in the right direction?

The Ring was totally creepy. I couldn't snore peacefully at night for days after watching it.

I saw 'potergeist' at the cinema when it first came out, and it was one of the best films I ever experienced. Not because of the film itself, but the wonderful reaction of the audience... someone started screaming "NO... NO... NOOO!" when the kid was about to look under the bed for that clown toy... and everyone else laughed, great stuff. I was falnked by my girlfriend and her sister, who both seemed to take comfort from gripping my arms... the bruises took weeks to wear off!
Alien is old hat now, Dr Who and Star Trek are just as scary, but when it was 'new', watching that at the cinema was great fun too. I think it's not so much the film as the circumstances in which you see it? From Dusk Till Dawn was highly entertaining, more gore than horror, but with excellent black humour, shockin' bad taste, and the best stripper I've ever seen... what a place! We could do with a bar like that round here, the band alone were worth all the danger IMO! |

The Exorcist terrified me to. I also had nightmares after seeing this. I feel chilled every time I see this film advertised on sky. I liked the saw films. Hostel made me think this could happen in real life so this was scarier still.
