John Carpenter’s The Thing and Hostel are up there in my book (and maybe Braindead if I want a laugh as well as gore).

The 'Exorcist' absolutely terrified me! :smt103
I was about 10 years old and sneaked it from my mums collection of videos to watch with my friends. I had nightmares for over 2 weeks after seeing it!!... I even thought that my bed would start rising or shaking at night. |

The 'Entity' was also another film that scared me quite a bit.
This one was based on a true story which makes it even scarier  |

Just watched Stephen King's "The Mist" the other night. That was pretty creepy too - especially the ending - had a real sense of dread about it.

I just watched a movie called The Burning last night and it had a lot of gore in it when it came to the death scenes. Hostel is pretty good and also Hellraiser and Cabin Fever

Hostel and Saw were to gory for me. i dont like a lot of that...it isnt that they are scary. the one movie that terrified me was Fallen. the one that is about Azazel, a demon that can pass through people by touch. it was back when i was fairly religious and it was the idea that scared me to death, that something like that could actually happen. it is still one of my favorite movies...but i woke everyone in the house up when i came home from the movies to see it. i was shaking and crying...i dont think that i touched anyone for a couple of weeks! lol. and the Exorcist amused me too. it is supposed to be based off of a true story that happened to a little boy. but i have also heard that it isnt...who knows...it was still funny.

The only horror movies I truely enjoyed. The right balance of gore, horror and humor. The first one, evil dead, was kinda campy in it's horror. The second one, evil dead II, has some surprises. The last one, army of darkness, has gore but its funny.
