I'm wondering if there are any "accurate" movies about ghosts. Or do most psychics cringe at Hollywood's portrayal of ghosts?
Take the movie "The Ring" in which a (**spoiler**) girl enacts revenge thru the use of a videotape. I thought it was a great movie, but is this something that is laughed at by psychic professionals? Or, are supernatural movies just given "creative license" when it comes to scenarios like this? |

Yes, it is laughable - little girls just dont take revenge via video or crawl out of tv sets .... you cant walk in to you cupboard and enter a spirit realm, ... people cant do vodoo on ya and steal your body, ... could go on all day with the sensationalized and down right just wrong things in movies.
One movie I can think of that was out there upon viewing but impressed me tho for the notes in the prologue was "An American Haunting' as it stated (roughly) that the phenomena -whilst portrayed during the film as coming from Satan and his henchmen- was mosy likely attributed to the psychological issues of the girl herself rather than anything from the spirit realms. I cant think of another right now, but it had Forrest Whitakker (I think) in the lead, and had some dialogue that actually made my head turn and think 'yay, good on ya Hollywood' coz it was correctly explainining the difference between ghosts and spirits - which i had never heard in a movie before. On the whole tho, enjoy em for the fictional entertainment that they are. Nat xxx

For me, it's the first Eye film directed by the Pang brothers (not the subsequent films in the Eye series).
*** spoiler *** The way that the leading lady interacts with the spirits without realising that they are discarnate reminds me of an experience I once had (have posted this on the Haunted Workplace thread). Also, elevators aren't quite the same for me after watching this film and I will think twice about taking calligraphy lessons. |
