I'm new here, hope I am posting in the right place. I have experienced many kinds of phenomena over more than twenty years. Physical phenomena in seances in the Noah's Ark Society and in closed physical circles, plus lots of mental mediumship, and study of the literature.
Recently I joined a Sceptics forum to see it from their point of view, as I have always been sceptical myself until good evidence is forthcoming. Having been involved in a table tilting session in my own home circle, with fantastic table rocking movements with all our hands right off the table as I insisted, I described this in the forum, and had a couple of replies. As usual, they claimed it was only anecdotal, and there must be a mundane explanation. Despite the fact that there was a red bulb electric 40W light on in the room, four witnesses that we had no hands on the table after it got going, and we could see everything very clearly. I replied I would not believe it in your position, but as it was a very basic simple experiment I would like to see it proved to sceptics, but this would never happen, partly because of the way that scientists treated physical mediums in the past. How would sceptics, if mediumistic, like to get tied up, messed about with in various ways in testing, and then let down by small errors in protocol and no support from the scientists afterwards?
There was no sympathy from them, they said would present themselves to a University and get tested, mediums had a duty to do this and it could all be filmed without distress for the medium. Where are the mediums that would/could do this?
This seemed to sum up the whole problem, we are either sheep or goats as it were, what do you all think?
