Ok I'm not the grim reaper but I do get dreams that have dead people visiting me and I know in a day or 2 I will hear of someone who has died. It doesn't happen every day, week or month but it started when I was about 13. It was really weird as my first visitation was from my grandmother whom I never met as she died before I was born. It was the same night we experienced a minor earth tremor. I felt I was being shakened awake by her. So all i did was pull my blanket covers over my head to hide. A few days later my brother in laws father died. Anyway to cut a very long story short. I dream of dead friends when a friend of the family dies but I dream of dead family members when someone in the family dies. The worst was when I dreamed of my dead grandfather...I awoke very frightened....for several days later I frantically hoped that my car dying on me was the loss I was to experience but sadly it wasn't. My dad died unexpectedly. Since his passing I have dreamt about him often so I thought for a while there that this gift/curse had stopped. Sadly the other day my dad visited me with another dead family friend ( the first time I had dreamt of the dead friend since his passing). Yesterday I read an intimation that a distant family friend had also died.
Im interested to know if anyone else has experienced anything like this and does it mean I am phychic or just very sensitive

I can't confirm the psychic / sensitive ability for you but I can corroborate that you're not alone because I have experienced the same kinds of dreams regarding deceased folk.

I mainly dream about deceased or ailing actors / distinguished people who I don't personally know. Those types of dreams can be annoying (because of the "What does it have to do with me?" factor.) but they can also be remarkable because I know that I would never have willingly dreamed up those identities so I have to ask myself "What the heck?".

However I have also dreamed about deceased relatives who have given me a concealed warning / clue about a living relative who's waning towards the exit doors.

I don't pretend to know what the dreams are really about. If someone happens to die after I have experienced such a dream it may be just a co-incidence but then again it may not be...I just don't know!

I am uncertain about my dreams because I not only get the dreams hinting about an upcoming death but I also have dreams on a similar level where I interact with deceased folk as one would do with the living so sometimes it can be hard to determine if there is a meaning to such a dream.

If the dreams contained clear cut messages with exact times, dates etc regarding the death of someone then I would be less doubtful about the whole thing especially the validity of a spirit world but alas it is not that simple.

Although I have to add that I have learned a few strange (unknown) things via the deceased in dreams so they do keep me wondering?

Also if my dreams really do connect me with the ethereal side of things then why the heck are the deceased asking me for items of food etc?...I do protest-eth as I am not a serving wench.... :roll:

In my dreams when I see the dead person they are just there in the background...they dont actually talk to me or tell me anything thing although I have interacted quite a lot with my dad since his passing but i think thats simply because i miss him and sometimes i just need a cuddle from him.
For a while in my teenage years and early 20's i was also experiencing vague premonition dreams about various disasters. I used to wake up thinking what the heck was that all about then a few days later something would be in the news that would be eerily similar to my dream. But i cant say that I have experienced those types of dreams in a long while. For family friends that have died its usually their dead partner that appears to me in the dream and I wonder why on earth did i dream of them. Then a few days later their living partner dies.

Your experiences are almost identical to mine. They used to worry me a lot, but I am used to them now. I also get relatives coming to me to warn me about things sometimes that are happening/have happened to their loved ones.
I also sometimes get these sort of instant preminitions in my daytime state, not sure where they come from, its just that I instantly know something is going to happen and have had this about people dying too.

so what is it?....is it a psychic ability.....can it be developed....although im not sure i want to be able to foretell someones death but if it is a psychic ability can i open up to other stuff. I have had times when I have had a gut wrenching feeling of something bad happening to family members and i physically start to shake inside....is it just women/mother intuition or something else?

My husband didn't dream of who was not long for this world but could tell just by talking to someone approx how long they had. This used to really upset him especially if it was a close friend.

Hi Deeza, my niece used to have these sort of dreams a lot. They also started when she was a young teenager. She was very upset by them and eventually stopped having them, but in the mean time she had dreamed the death of a lot of family members.

I get these dreams when ever I am very sick. I dream about seeing dead people while they are laying in their coffins, they would rise,and then they will lay back down, I would see my self going to the graves sides. I would see my dead mother running after me and seeing her rising out of her coffin her clothes crumble and asking me for clean clothes. My older sister she came to me and ask me why I did not come to her funeral she looked very well in the dream in life she was obese in my dream she was very slim as if she lost a lot of weight she gave me the number "8" three times. I would always see fresh graves sites. My father -in came to visit me he was telling me where to find some money he had put away he too looked well as he sat on his bed talking with me, he always visit with me. When ever there is trouble around me my grand mother would always show up. She would tell me what color to wear. I could go on and on I too ponder about the dead showing up in my dreams and all the different things they say and do. Know this you are not alone.

Thank you for all your responses....it is very strange how people can interact with the dead while dreaming. Bluemoon that must have been awful for your husband.
I always feel when I hear of a friends death after a dream visit from another dead person as if "well I knew that was coming" but I will never get over the sheer feeling of panic when i dreamt my dead grandfather i actually woke up hyper ventilating. At the time I wasnt sure if it meant what I knew previous dreams had come to mean to me. A few days later both my dad was rushed into hospital and my niece was suffering from an adverse reaction to an anesthetic she had received for an operation and i spent my time between the 2 hospital wards dreading the inevitable. It was to be my dad and not my niece that night to leave us.
