Hi everyone, i have never tried the EVP experiments but would like to sometime. May i ask if its normal to get threatening messages, and if so, why would they be threatening us? I have heard things like this about EVP before, and thats the main reason i havent tried it yet!

I think it's quite common to get threatening messages in EVP's. I've seen lots of publicized cases of the sort.. As for the question about why, maybe something that's going on in their area is changing and they don't know what's causing a change, which gets them riled up?

OK, I've got a friend whose dad owns a piece of woodland, which is cool for camping in and stuff. Now, the first time I went up there, me and my friend were just sitting around the fire, must have been only about 13 (this will become important later on), mucking around with recordings on a mobile phone.
It was a Nokia phone and we were just recording dumbass voices. this quickly got boring so my friend went through deleting all the recordings. However, we found a recording that was taken at the same time as the others (we know this because the default file name for recordings is AMR-001, etc, and we had recorded AMR-001 to about AMR-009, and this one was AMR-004 or something). The time of the recording was given as about 7.20pm, which was only a few minutes ago.
So we were wondering where this recording had come from. When we listened to it, it was definitely speech, and lasted about 3 seconds. It was a man speaking and it sounded like well-spoken English, which was wierd because a) our voices hadn't broken at this point and b) there were no well-spoken men in the vicinity at this point.
So we've racked our brains over this and can't find a reasonable explanation. It's been stored away on our computer hard drives so I thought it would be good to get someone else's take on it, see what they hear. I may be able to upload it and if I do, would anyone here be willing to have a listen? We have tried to put it through sound programs such as Audacity to remove some of the noise and slow it down but are having trouble with file formats.

There is a twist to this story, as well. Maybe 1 or 2 years later, me and the same friend were sleeping in a shelter, a few feet away from where the recording was taken. He was on a beaten up sofa and I was a few feet away on some old haystacks, on the floor. It was probably about 2am. He calls out my name, and I'm just like, 'Whaaaaaa?' because I'm half asleep on the floor.
So in the morning he tells me that he called out because there was someone standing over him and he was wondering why I was stumbling around in the dark at 2am. Trouble is, I wasn't. He recalls seeing a definite figure of a man, only a slihouette. It could have been a product of a dream, as he was also half-asleep, but apparently it was very vivid and clear cut.

So yeah, if I manage to upload this file, I would be grateful if anyone can have a look. Thanks :wink:

Hi! that was one hell of a spooky story urbanturban!! I dont know why but i'm not a big fan of EVP because i just find it too **** scary.
I listened to one on a website last year and this woman was saying it was the voice of her dead daughter and her daughters husband (They both had ben killed in a car accident i think) anyway these voices sounded demonic to me, real deep and inhuman, the woman said she could recognise her daughters voice, i really dont know how because it sounded so grainy. Also i listened to another a couple of months ago (on youtube???) it was a recording of the beatles on a radiostation a few years ago and at the end of the song this horrifying deep voice yelled at the end! :shock: (Dont know if this was a wind up or not) BUT apparently the story goes that a man who was recording the song phoned the radio station to ask what the hell the noise was and they knew nothing about it!
If anyone has heard this before let me know if this was a wind up....
i might have watched 'white noise' too often i dunno, but i find EVP really SCARY!!!

Reguarding cassette recorders:
I notice most people experiencing apparent EVP phenomena include details like "when I was a kid" or "a long while ago", which may well explain some of these phenomena. Back in the 1970's and even into the 80's, quite a few people were still using AM mobile transceivers on low VHF (particularly cab companies), which would often get picked up by hifi equipment, particularly the ******* kind of stuff. This would produce (usually) short snatches of speech, often including names, addresses, numbers, personal stuff and so-on, which could sound rather odd - if you know what cabbies are like, you will appreciate this!
Almost everything (in the UK at least) changed to FM, and moved to higher frequrncies in the 80's, which can't cause such interference, and most radio traffic is now digital and on UHF.

My own experiments on EVP, using a homebrew 'spiricom' style machine that detects modulation of a light beam, passing through a quartz crystal, were encouraging. The very first time I 'tested' it for real, I sensed a strong presence, and my audible, verbal questions were defintely 'answered' by strange silences that had no apparent 'scientific' cause. I'm afraid to say that I consigned the equipment to the shed, as it disturbed my partner (she didn't complain, but I knew!), and other people too ("oh gawd... please don't muck about with such stuff son? It'll end in disaster!"). That includes myself I suppose, as I felt a strong instinct to forget the thing, and sensed disapproval from my guides.... who am I to argue? Besides, it didn't produce the crystal clear, recordable voices of famous dead folks, with incontrovertible proof of life after death as I hoped.... not within two hours anyway, and being one who gives up all too easily, that was it.... I know that the original spiricom guys took more than a year to get anything at all... what patience!

So, if anyone wants a low-mileage hi-band spiricom device, one careful owner, 12v, no guarantees other than electrically safe - sold as seen - please let me know. Total component cost = nothing, all s/h bits from unwanted domestic appliances. Perhaps I should write up the plans... all very simple....
