When you are out of your body Ant, having literally vibrated out fully conscious, and then looked at your physical body laid in bed fast asleep you realise for a start that your body is just a shell and that the 'real' you, which may be joined to it while living out a physical existence, is the eternal you.

It is possible to remain close to earth while you are out of the body but I prefer to move to higher levels and meet up with some amazing people; the experience is so vivid, the colours so bright and emotions such as love, are tangible.

The one thing it did for me Ant was confirm my immortality; it proved I didnt need that physical body to be alive, energetic and with endless vitality, coupled with the evidence received from spirit and the other spiritual experiences I have enjoyed - you know that I never say I believe in spirit because I dont believe; I know! and that can transform your life.

Do you see a tunnel when you travel there? i'm sure i'd be freaked if i saw one and never knew if you are supposed to travel through the tunnel or not when astral traveling.

Ditto Vi's comments. I didn't actually believe in spirit the first time I came out of body consciously. I had reason to suspect spirits might be real and that obe's might be possible, but such was my need to know for sure that I resolved to just let go and do it no matter how much my fear was wanting me not to. Deliberately allowing that ranks in the top two of scariest things I have ever done, ... but actually doing it ranks in the top two best experiences I have ever had. And my first thought once I was out - "omg, it's true". A thought hearing spirit myself, getting readings, etc, had failed to provoke. Still took me a while to be convinced communication with spirit was above the board tho. As for our own spirit tho, ... like Vi said, it becomes a knowing rather than a belief. I am quite certain mediumship (excluding physical phenomena) would never have sold me on the idea, which to me makes the point of obe's all the more relevant, - coz you don't need to be a medium to have the experience.

For Coke's question, I can only speak for myself, others may have different experiences, but I move in to higher realms in two ways, ... one is literally instantaneous whether it is the second I come oob, or after being out around earth for a bit first. No tunnel, but I do get a light so bright it should hurt your eyes but doesn't at the moment of transition. The other way, almost feels to me like descending rapidly in to a trance state, ... I start feeling a foggy/head spin sensation and as tho I am losing consciousness. Sometimes I lose my vision momentarily, so it is like being in a black cocoon, but I can still hear, and am still semi conscious, just not fully with it for a few seconds before I am 'just there' fully conscious and alert again.

Hmmm well i tried to meditate a few nights ago for the first time. Sat in my bed, had my eyes closed (well my hand over my eyes...i can't close my eyes as they wont close, someone told me my eyes bulge and i also see dots with eyes open/closed and sometimes they are real bright)and tried not to think but to imagine what my spirit would look like and all of a sudden i hear a sound and the side of my head gets a real thin pain (like a thin piece of paper on my head that presents pain and u can feel it and is long) that lasts a few minutes then say "ok i'm done with that" and go to sleep.

I think the tunnel effect happens with near death experiences and I feel this is the spirit leaving the environs of the physical body and a tunnel effect is created.

This never happens to me when going out of the body; I either wake up in my body, paralysed, vibrating and I just wait to slowly lift up and then I am off on my travels; its wonderful being wrapped in a vortex of energy and going straight through an unopened window, OR I become conscious when I am out of my body usually about 18 inches above it and then oft we jolly well go.

I have discovered, not sure whether Nat has, that any emotion, fear, anger, dread, joy, elation, excitement brings me straight back so I have learned to move gently through my travels. Unfortunately when it first happens if you do not know these can happen, then it can be pretty frightening so the fear alone can stop you getting fully out. Its a case of stay focussed but relax and enjoy.

luv

As a general rule, yes I would have to agree that any heightened emotion can abruptly bring one back to their body, ... but there are occasional exceptions to most rules.

Hope you don't mind if I jump in with a newbie question on this.
Can specific places be targeted during travel? Or is it just general? Or more of a spiritual travel?

Interested in learning this.
The travelling sounds like it would a relaxing experience.
