IMO

2012 isnt about making the world a better place. 2012 according to some is when the golden age begins and this is purporetd to begin with realisation and development of people spiritually. As a result of this more effort is made and swolurions found to pollutions and man made destruction of habitats used by endagngered species.

Now from what i hear a lot of the greenhouse effect is a result of natural phenomenon rather than man made.

Guess we will see what happens in 2012 when it happens.

Actually I really enjoyed reading this post. The bit about growing all that we eat, living sustainably etc really hit home to me as that is what we did last year for the first time. Grew all our own veg for the whole of the next year, and raised a pig to provide a small amount of meat. It is very rewarding to eat your own vegetable products, straight from garden to table. The taste is so much more superior to what you buy in the supermarkets, so much sweeter and juicier.

I do not know what will happen in 2012, I hope its all for the best, but who knows. Will it be like the millenium when we were told that all the computers would crash and all data be lost, because the computer systems could not cope with the date 2000 ! As we all know, that date came and went, very uneventfully. Maybe the same with happen in 2012. But what I do know is that the earth cannot sustain having all her resourses pumped out of her. We as a people have to start to look after mother earth a hek of a lot more.

I may be simple minded, but to me, it's just one more "hot topic" that seems to push so many buttons in people. Reminds me of y2k!

Everywhere you look it seems that someone has a differing opinion as to what the purpose is of the Mayan calendar ending in 2012. Actually, there are also those that say it "doesn't" end in 2012. Who is right, who is wrong? Does it really matter?

The way I see it, worrying about something that may or may not happen tomorrow (let alone a few years down the road) is time wasted. I do believe that gaining knowledge on essential subjects is important for both the betterment of the earth and the people on it; however I really do think there are more important things to research than the “alleged” tenebrous affects of 2012! Conversely, for those that believe 2012 is meant to be the year of spiritual enlightenment, then why would we not focus our energies in trying to do that in the here and now?

The end of the world has been predicted since the creation of the world. How many billions of years ago? I'm not quite sure. And I'm not claiming that I know my bible very well, but I'm pretty sure that somewhere in there it says something like the end of the world can not and will not be predicted. That's just how it's supposed to be.

Long long long long lines of our ancestry have all predicted the end of the world that would happen sometime in their lifetime....and yet here we are. A million end-of-the-world predictions later.

I don't think the end of the world is coming in 2012. If it was, we wouldn't have predicted it.

I think we should just stop trying to predict it.

Why would we need to predict it anyways? So that we can know how long we have to get our affairs in order? How many times we can do something immoral and still have time to make up for it to God?

Personally, I'd rather not know when the end was coming, and just try to live my life as virtuosly as possible now so I wouldn't have to worry about last minute "I'm sorry, God"s.

What I am wondering is, are any on this site making any prepartions for 2012?

I've read and watched a lot of documentaries on the subject, possibility of polar shifts, tsunamis, planet X. Am fascinated by the Mayans and their calender - was shocked about that ball game they played with a human sacrifice at the end!

I personally do not believe it is the end of the world on 21/12/2012 at 11:11p.m.

The main thing that concerns me is the possiblity of solar flares. I've watched a few youtube newsclips about Nasa scientists warning of this. Should this occur they say that the power grid could be destroyed and it could take years to rebuild. There would be a total black-out.

I am not panicking about it but my mum is already stocking up on candles, matches, dried food - baby wipes to wash with - should they be needed.

Was wondering if anyone else is making any preparations just in case? . . .

Kinda reminds me of the guy who bet 1 million on the world ending in 2000,

the only thing that was gauranateed he would lose 1 million . nothing happened he lost 1 million if he had won the bet how would he collect his winnings, wonder if he thought of that before putting the money on it

well just in case it happens i think that i shall endeavor to each and every day until then and i dont think it will at said appointed time, iam going to do this IAM GOING TO WAKE UP AND GIVE THANKS AND LUV AND GIVE LUV AND GROW AND GROW ,LIFE IS FOR LIVING THE END WILL TAKE CARE OF IT SELF .In the mean time i will try and DO the right thing with my planit earth my mother my HOME ......WORLD HEALING WEEK JOIN AND LETS MAKE THE CHANGE
