Mike Rowland does it for me, music made in Heaven in my opinion! The cd The Magical Elfin Collection I've played so often over the years, a wonder it hasn't worn out.

Silver Wings was the first I heard of Mike Rowland (many years ago), a yoga teacher played it at the end of a yoga session for us to meditate to.

Mike Rowland play his music on an old ’’Steinway’’adding to his arrangements violin parts using the warm sound of his special old sintesiser.His music is amazingly simple yet not sentimental and reach the heart of the listener inviting him into the world of harmony and magic.It has archetypal quality,its music everyone can relate to,triggering something deep,sacred and powerful. The listener need to feel the music ,simply to surrender to the gentle waves of sound and let them lead him into amazing journey. It’s a music you can understand if you not only listen but hear and it speaks more that any words could.
Mike Rowland is born in London in 1958 .He was A sensitive child and the music became the means the subtle inspiration to find expression.He experimented with different kind of music and traveled a lot and he learned to listen the sound of life and the sound of nature too.It’s something that happened when he was in his twenties that changed his life. While walking in the forest he suddenly heard amazing , magical music coming like out of the nature itself.He felt bewitched and overhelmed.Returning home he recorded it and thus was born ‘’The Fairy Ring’’ and in England the style’’New Age’’.His music evoked huge interest and the reason was the music itself,not arranged by advertising and such ‘’push ups’’.His music was so powerful and emotional,so spiritual that win the hearts of many.
But to reach the public was not easy because the big music agencies declined edditing his recordings because meant they are not according to the standard so he needed to distribute them himself.He purchased few cassette players and worked long hours on the recording sending the ready cassettes to different small shops .He started to perform infront of small audience from time to time.Gradually he gaind more and more popularity.His break through happened in Holland followed with few music festivals in England and in’’Paravision’’in Haag.In 1986 in ‘’amsterdam Concert Hall’’ he performed together with another new-age musician Aeoliah.There he desided to sign a contract with the Holland’s studio’’Oreade Music’’specialized in new-age music.The number of sold albums constantly grew.
Mike continued to create.After The Fairy Ring’’ he recorded’’Silver Wings’’,’’Titania’’,’’Solace’’,’’The Brighter Side’’,’’Precious Love’’,’’And So To Dream’’…etc.The actress Shirley MacLain used the music in her program ‘Inner Workout’’.For the first seven weeks only wee sold more than 100 000 coppies of this program.He recorded also wonderful piano version of ‘’The Fairy Ring’’.His music full of love and compassion evokes the same emotions in the heats of his listeners,it’s a magic journey deep into the soul.Despite his popularity Mike lead an ordinary life with his family close to the nature,he doesn’t like much to give concerts but continue to create magic.From 1999 started to use computer programs in his work explaining that is wonderful when you create something to be able to save it in the computers memory to back to it later ,to add or remove something,to do whatever you feel you have to.But ,he adds,this what is important is his inspiration which he hopes always to have saved in himself.
Mike’s music has one another quality ,its spiritual healing quality.It’s used from teachers and doctors,for meditation and relaxation ,everywhere where is needed creating of balance,to de-stress, to revitalize, harmonize, to rebalance the energy system mentally, emotionally and physically.It’s a simple music but her complexity is the depth of the experience.It’s a music of transformation.

Thanks for the info Emerald! I remember Mike Rowland giving a concert here in Holland, but didn't manage to get to it which I thought a shame. The Magical Elfin Collection has tracks from most of what you listed and I also have Angel Delight and Lady of the Lake, also beautiful.

I absolutely love Mike Rowland. He truly is remarkable! My favorite place to listen to his music is outdoors (with my headset on) sitting on a nice comfy lounge chair feeling the warmth of the sun, the gentle breeze, and the birds chirping in the background. His music feels so spiritual to me, and what better place to enjoy that but surrounded by the beauty of mother nature!
